Windermere team building
So today was day two of our Orienteering event for local business Alertacall. A team of 10 joined us this time, all eager for a fast time around the course in the Brant Fell area.
Orienteering isn't something we are asked for often, and that's a shame because it's a huge amount of fun and perfect for a family day out, as part of a weekend away with friends, or as a team building day with work colleagues.
In preparation for the event, Kate worked hard behind the scenes to produce excellent maps and resources, and we put together a completely bespoke course for the teams. Having never tried this course before, we too were a little unsure how well it would work. No need to have worried, the place and distances were all just perfect. From our point of view, the hard work has been well worth it, as we've seen lots of happy, smily faces on both afternoons, that's always our aim.
All the teams today set off running, and I think most ran the whole course, occasionally taking a wrong turn, but that's all part of the fun and adventure. Everyone also managed to find every control point. At some of these control points, teams had local knowledge questions to answer, these would gain them more points (seconds off their final time) for correct answers.
The fastest time of only 40 minutes (including correct question allowances) came from Will & Jude. Well done!
And what a grand way to finish the day, a pot of English Breakfast tea with the team at a rather nice cafe in Windermere. Thanks everyone at Alertacall, and especially Steph for arranging all the events. We hope to see you all next year for more fun adventures in the beautiful Lake District.
