Wild Ennerdale & Wasdale walking weekend: 10th – 12th October 2014

Wow, what a fantastic weekend it's been here in the Lakes. Loads of sunshine, but also enough cloud around to provide those unforgettable atmospheric conditions in the mountains.
Along with Kim, Julia, and Barbara we set off to complete a good chunk of the massive Ennerdale horseshoe on Saturday.

We covered around 14 miles and lots of ascent along the ridgeline, before dropping into the valley for a brew at Black Sail yha. Then a gentle walk back along the valley. Hills climbed today were: Herdus, Great Bourne, Starling Dodd, Little Dodd, Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag, and Seat!

After a good rest on Saturday night, we set out for Wasdale on Sunday. We completed the Mosedale horseshoe, this is a little shorter than yesterdays circuit, but felt pretty tiring. Hills climbed today were: Red Pike (Wasdale), Little Scoat Fell, Pillar, and Kirk Fell.

The ascent to Dore head was brutally steep as were the final slopes of Kirk Fell. All worth it though, amazing views both days and fabulous company.
Hope to see you all again next year for the complete Ennerdale horseshoe.
