Web Design Kendal - Where to go for a New Website…

Ok so now for a change of topic. Well it’s nice to have some variety huh.

A couple of years ago I was contacted via e-mail by a web design company called Freshspace. As is the case for many businesses, we are bombarded with e-mails and sales calls on a daily basis. So for the most part I ignore them, if I didn’t there wouldn’t be much work getting done here.

The e-mail from Freshspace was different. There was a personality within the message and for whatever reason, I sensed a connection and that something was right. So I acted upon their e-mail and got in touch. I also checked out some of their previous work, it was very nice.

I think my initial contact was with Eilidh, but for the most part my main point of contact has been and remains to be Darren. This is a husband and wife team and they are based locally in the South Lakes. For me, having a locally based web designer was very important. I realise it may be cheaper to have this done abroad, but that wasn’t going to suit us at Mountain Journeys. I also feel strongly about supporting local businesses and do so at every opportunity.

A very fair quote was received from Freshspace and it included all the services we would need. This had already been discussed at length. So it was time to move forward.

Once the ‘Go’ button had been pressed the development was rapid and effective. As always with something new, a few tweaks were necessary and this was all seamlessly taken care of by Freshspace.

The new Mountain Journeys website was launched during the winter time (22/23). This was a strategic move in case there were any teething problems. Whilst I liked the ‘old’ website, it was in need of a refresh and wow did it get just that. I was massively impressed with the results and such a clean, simple design.

It was built on a WordPress platform and this was new tech for me, always a challenge! Thankfully Darren walked me through how to make various changes and additions to the site, although I leave the bulk of it alone in case I mess things up. If tweaks to the main pages are required Darren is quick to respond. What I do on the site is add blog posts on a regular basis. The WordPress platform gives me a high level of control and allows me to easily increase the SEO, something I was unable to influence on the previous site.

The other website I have is Climb Scafell and this too was in need of a refresh. I was less certain of investing as much time and money into this site as my aim is to travel to Wasdale less and the Climb Scafell site predominantly brings in work in the Wasdale area. After much humming and haring the ‘Go’ button was pressed once more. Eek!

The Climb Scafell site is less complexed but there was a massive blog catalogue attached to it and all this needed to be transferred. Not a quick task I don’t imagine. Still, the design and development was even more seem-less and very quickly we had a working site that was online faster than I was expecting.

With both websites being built on the same WordPress platform by the same web developer, updates and maintenance is straightforward even for a non-tech person like me. And on the rare occasion I do press the wrong button, Freshspace are quick to put it all right again.

For anyone considering having a new website made or current website refreshed I can highly recommend contacting the Freshspace team. Local, friendly, efficient, and great value.

Thanks for reading. Normal service will resume with writings of fun adventures in the mountains and rivers 🙂
