Navigation Skills Course Lake District
It's been a pleasure to welcome back the Alertacall team from Windermere. After a successful orienteering event held in the autumn, they were keen to build on these skills, so a Navigation training session was the obvious next step.
Quite a whirlwind introduction to map & compass skills before setting off into the hills above Elterwater:
Grid references
Orientating the map
Topographical features
Bearings
Roamers
Pacing
Were all covered before we left the car park!
Then it was off we go to put it all into practice. 7 grid references were to be located to complete the course that covered only a small area, but an area of high complexity.
All the teams successfully navigated around the course, with only the occasional 'off-piste' adventures.
Well done all. We're looking forward to see more of the team next week.
