Lake District Adventure Days
It's been a super busy day here in the Lake District. The good weather and Bank holiday has brought many people out to enjoy the beautiful landscape here. The Arc'teryx revival weekend is in full swing at the Stickle Barn in Langdale and was looking good.
We have been out with a family & friends group from Manchester, all looking for some fun and adventure and that's what they got.
We walked to Cathedral quarry and Joe led everyone through the tunnels and caverns whilst I fixed up a variety of abseils at different heights.
As is often the case, nerves were on edge for many before the abseil, that's all part of the fun. Once on the abseil wall the smiles came thick and fast, always a pleasure to see. For many this was a first time abseil. Pretty much everyone came around for a second & third go down the cliff face, trying the different cliffs each time.
With a lunch appointment booked for 1pm at the New Dungeon Ghyll, we reluctantly called a halt to more abseiling so as not to be too late for lunch.
Whilst the team re-fueled, me & Joe busily prepared for the afternoon of Gorge scrambling. Stickle ghyll was to be the venue and we had it all to ourselves. Water levels were quite low due to a lack of rain (can you believe it)!!
Everyone got stuck in straightaway and braved the cool Lakeland water. Scrambling over boulders, climbing waterfalls, swimming through pools, and for some, jumping into the deep plunge pool - refreshing!
A full day of fun and adventure in natures fantastic playground. These days are fun, involving, informative, engaging, and educational for kids & adults. Both activities can be enjoyed during wet or dry conditions, with the gorge scrambling be arguably better when it's raining.
