Descending back into the Langdale valley
8 Peaks Challenge
This season we've provided quite a few of these bigger mountain days out. It's certainly something we enjoy too. Like any of our days out and activities, we can tailor things to suit you. This was the case with one of the 8 Peaks Challenge events we provided this summer.
But back to our standard route offering, what is it and where?
We start at The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in the Langdale valley and walk along Mickleden to reach the mountains of:
Rossett Pike - 651m
Allen Crags - 785m
Great End - 910m
Scafell Pike - 978m
Broad Crag - 934m
Ill Crag - 935m
Esk Pike - 885m
Bowfell - 902m
Actual distance can vary slightly depending on the exact route taken, but it's around 22km and includes around 1500 metres of ascent. Much of the terrain is rocky and this can take a toll on knees after a few hours. We will guide you through the terrain to ease the way as much as possible, but expect a challenging day out.

And at the end of a fabulous and rewarding day in the Lakeland mountains, we finish at the ODG pub where a well earned drink and food can be enjoyed should you wish
