Canyoning in Coniston - Give the Gift of Adventure this Christmas
Give the Gift of Adventure this Christmas
Our main aim and motivation for writing this blog is to thank all our wonderful customers for making 2025 one of our best ever years here at Mountain Journeys. It has been an incredibly busy and varied year of working and playing in the mountains of The Lake District and we have loved every minute of it.
Thank you all for making this possible.
There are a few photos included here to brighten up the blog and to show just a few of the places and things we got up to.
Rock Climbing - has been quite a feature again this season and during the long, dry spell of summer - yes that actually happened - there were loads of amazing days out on the crags. Esk Buttress, Pillar Rock, Gimmer Crag, Bowfell Buttress, Raven Crag, Castle Rock, Scout Crags, Wallowbarrow Crags, Goat Crag, Sunny Crag, Black Crag, Long Scar, and plenty more besides.
Guided Walks - these have been mostly spent on Helvellyn and Scafell Pike and have given us some tremendous days out in all weathers. Also some splendid days on the smaller fells such as Loughrigg, Black Crag, Wansfell, Nab Scar, and around The Langdale Pikes. Diverse days with many lovely people.
Canyoning and Gorge Scrambling - huge amounts of this and we simply can't get enough of it. Such fun activities and perfect in almost any weather and at most times of the year (okay, maybe not the depths of winter). There have been probably over 100 sessions in Stickle Ghyll this summer and a similar number of canyon descents of Church Beck. Maybe 15 trips to The Mighty Esk too and in all sorts of weather. We will be adding more venues for the 2026 season, so get in touch if wanting something a bit new and different.
Ridge Scrambles - scrambling is a load of fun and can be enjoyed by any active person. We know some of the finest in The Lake District. Striding Edge on Helvellyn is a very good entry point into this activity and this year we've shown quite a few people this route as well as others such as Jack's Rake on Pavey Ark, which is also a good starter route.
Kate has been running lots and this year had the opportunity to travel to the Lofoten area of Norway to compete in a 5 day race through the mountains. Well, that scenery sure was inspiring and has made me want to visit there to sample the rock climbing. One day....
Christmas - yes it's now getting very close and for many it's time to start thinking about gifts for family and friends. And wow there's lots of choice out there these days, all making it ever more difficult to choose. Well we have the perfect solution. Ditch the wooly jumper idea and instead give the gift of adventure with one of our personalised Christmas Gift Vouchers. These can be of any value from £50 upwards and can be linked directly to an activity or date, or open ended for the recipient to choose at a later date. Just let us know what you'd like and we'll do the rest.
Please get in touch and we'll design the perfect Gift Voucher for you 🙂
Thanks for reading and all the best
