Bernia Ridge and West Summit
Earlier this week we had the pleasure of introducing Jenni & Arto from Finland to the joys of Rock scrambling. A traverse of the Bernia ridge up to the Western (main) summit seemed a fitting introduction and certain gave us all a fantastic day out.
It has been quite some time since i'd visited the Western summit and i'd forgotten just how much fun scrambling was to be had. A few of the trickier sections were equipped with fixed ropes, thus aiding our progress.
The weather was most kind to us, with clear blue skies and a light breeze the whole time. This meant it was possible to enjoy lunch on the summit (at over 1100m) in just short sleeve tops 🙂
A whistle stop tour of the Bernia Fort before heading back to base and a well earned cup of tea.
A cracking day out, thanks both.
