Harter Fell - Duddon Valley
|
Moderate
Full Day: Allow 4 - 5 hours Terrain: Forestry tracks and at times pathless grassy slopes. Summary: Nestling in a quiet corner of the Lake District, Harter Fell is often seen from afar, but seldom visited. The Duddon valley is the Lakes at its very best, utterly gorgeous, peaceful, and green. From Birks Bridge we initially follow forestry tracks to gain the open fell-side. From here, increasingly vague tracks lead to the summit from where unrivalled views of the Scafell range can be savoured. A steady descent takes us back into forestry for the final section of our return walk. Due to its location in the South West corner of Lakeland, Harter Fell is more often free of cloud so a good choice when the high mountains are shrouded in a veil of mist. |
