General
The mountain scramble activity offers the chance to move amongst rocky terrain without the need for rock climbing equipment. This means we move quicker & cover more ground, improving our skills with each step. The situations are sometimes steep & the views always superb. It’s a great adventure for kids & adults alike. The area we go to for this activity is Pike O’ Blisco, situated high above the Langdale valley.
The scrambling begins straight away and takes us to our next activity.
Rock climbing:
We’ll climb on amazing rock and reach the top out to experience amazing views towards Windermere and beyond. After climbing, we take a short walk to a nearby rock face for an Abseil. Finally, we make a scramble for the summit and more amazing views, or maybe more climbing / abseiling and a visit to a mountain tarn on our return, it's your choice.
We will be using rock faces up to 45ft high. Ropes will be put in place to ensure your safety and enjoyment of the day. You will be able to learn the art of movement on the rock whilst scrambling & bouldering, then move on to roped climbing. This will enable you to improve technique as well as learn some of the technical aspects related to climbing outdoors. The activities will be tailored to suit your requirements ensuring you gain lots from your time with us.
Kit list
We will provide helmets, harnesses, ropes, passive protection, and safety equipment including 1st Aid kit. For your own safety a helmet must be worn at all times whilst at the crag & scrambling. You will need to bring trainers or walking boots, unless you have rock shoes. Warm & waterproof clothing is also required, as it can sometimes feel chilly in the mountains.
Note: please ensure you bring any personal medication with you during all activities.
Fitness requirements
We have a walk of up to 20 minutes to reach some of the crags, so you need a reasonable level of fitness. As a guideline, I anticipate the day to be around 6
hours in duration.
And finally....
If you have any questions regarding the above, please don’t hesitate to contact Mark or Kate by email or phone.
