Starting with a day at the lovely Ambolo crags near Javea, we climbed around half a dozen routes in fine weather conditions. I mentioned some good walking routes across the bay at Granadella and the following day they enjoyed a coastal walk there, in some breezing weather!
For our next adventure, we headed north to the exciting Les Marujes via ferrata. It has been almost 2 years since I had visited, thankfully it's still every bit as good as I remembered. There is a proper mountain feel to this trip, with a long, yet leisurely approach walk, then 3 distinctly different sections of via ferrata before topping out high on the mountain.
With a chilly but sunny forecast for the following day, I suggested the south facing sun trap of nearby Alcalali crag. This turned out to be a popular choice and for good reason, it was lovely and warm 🙂 We climbed around 7 or 8 routes, with Eugene leading a couple of them too.

With another chilly day on the cards, me & Joe decided on something a bit different! Caving!
Not long ago I had discovered a cave system on the nearby Segaria ridge. However, not wanting to explore too deeply whilst alone (and with a tiny head torch) I had retreated with the plan to return again with back up and a decent torch. So here we are.
First up is the Cova Bolumini: this is a straightforward walk around cave with impressive rock formations and some easy scrambling required in order to access all of it.
Then things got more interesting! A signpost simply pointing to 'Avenc' (cave) led up into the hole and it began clear an abseil would be needed. We had brought equipment with this in mind and soon had this all rigged and ready to descend. I went first and was immediately blown away by the scenery. Joe followed soon after and off we went deep into the cave. This soon opened up into an impressive chamber with hard to describe rock formations. Soon we came to a stopper, some old fixed rope that needed climbing and looked well past its best. We decided to call it a day at that point and slowly made our way back to our abseil rope. This now needed to be ascended! Prussik time it is then. Once I was at the top Joe decided to try climbing out instead, so with a tight rope he ascended the rock, managing it without too much bother, top effort.
