20 guys, mostly from the Midlands joined us for a Gorge Scramble back on the 9th April. The weather had been very poor running up to the day, and snow continued to fall on the mountains. High water levels and icy water lead us to swap venue from Church beck to Stickle ghyll (Stickle ghyll has no swimming so is much warmer).
Thankfully, the morning started dry & bright, and the sun remained with us all day, making Stickle ghyll a good decision as it is open to the suns rays.
As expected, the lads were in high spirits and ready for a challenge, this was duly presented as Paddy was lead guide today and he'll always find some extra challenges and choose the path less trodden. This led to a few early baths in the plunge pools and lots of laughs to go with it.
The top waterfall was raging in full flow. Thankfully, Joe dropped a rope down a sensible route, but Paddy was in for the adventure and dropped his rope into the full force of the water, nutter! This route saw a few attempts, followed by rapid and chilly retreats, but Ed did make it to the top of this one, showing it can be done, really well done.
The lads dried off and warmed up in the afternoon sun before heading off for 5 a side football.
Thanks everyone, and especially to Paddy & Joe for all your help today.
