A few years ago, we set out on a ‘recce’ mission to the Sierra Ferrer hoping to explore its rocky crest. Having approached from the South, we arrived at a broad col and whilst a vague track seemed to head North from here, none of the terrain ahead looked worth the bother, so after a little more exploration, we didn’t bother!
Well that was a shame, because this fine crest is worth a look. The best approach is from the North, where well-marked tracks lead all the way up to the ridge. Once on the crest the views are magnificent in all directions, with the Bernia ridge, Xanchet, Segaria ridge, and the coast all being visible.
The scrambling is very easy, but at times very exposed, so care is needed. And as is normal with ridges in this area, there is a fair amount of loose rock.
All too soon we arrived at the broad col of our previous visit and the ridge was over. An easy track led us back down to Masserof where a selection of rustic restaurants and bars offer refreshments.
Really pleased we went back for this one. Well worth doing if you’re in the area.
If you’re looking for an action packed holiday or short break here in Spain, give us a call / email and let’s make it happen. Rock climbing, mountain walking, scrambling, canyoning, and via ferrata.
Thanks
