We began in the Borrowdale valley, climbing 3 routes at Shepherds crag, from where we enjoyed fine views over Derwent Water. After finishing here and a quick tea & cake stop at the Lodore farm cafe, we climbed a couple of short routes on Upper Shepherds crag before calling it a day.
Next day we stayed closer to home, on our local 'Raven crag' in Langdale. A crag to suit all climbers whatever their grade and aspiration. We enjoyed the ever popular Middlefell Buttress, with Soo leading some of the pitches. Then moved on to Original Route and Evening Wall to finish the day. The crag was fairly quiet apart from a team on 'The Grip Trip' E4 test piece. They succeeded after a few goes, top effort.
There was a slight feeling of sadness as we walked down the hill from the crag this afternoon, as I was leaving the Lakes this evening for a week in Snowdonia. Hardly a terrible ordeal you may say, but whenever I leave the Lakes I miss it so much. The finest rock and views in the country and it's home.
Thanks for a great couple of days Soo, hope to see you again soon.
