Lake District 8 Peaks challenge
Over the course of a long and challenging day in the mountains, you will visit some wonderful places and enjoy stunning landscapes. The terrain is a mix of good tracks on popular routes to lesser visited summits with only small tracks leading to their summits.
The day starts at The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, in the Langdale valley. From here we walk along the Mickleden valley before beginning the ascent up to Rossett Pike, from now on it's all mountainous terrain.
The summits in the order we plan to visit them are:
Rossett Pike - 651m
Allan crags - 785m
Ill crag - 935m
Broad crag - 934m
Scafell Pike - 977m
Great End - 910m
Esk Pike - 885m
Bowfell - 902m

Distance: 22km / 14 miles
Height gain: 4526ft / 1380 metres
Highest summit: Scafell Pike 3210ft / 977metres

Fitness requirements:
A high level of fitness is needed to get the most out of this trip. The day will feel long, with about 10 hours or more of mountain walking. You need to feel comfortable walking with a small day- sack for extended periods and during adverse weather conditions. We strongly advise you to complete some training walks before you arrive. Time invested in training will undoubtedly add to the enjoyment of your trip.
Weather: The weather in the mountains of the British Isles can be unpredictable. If we’re lucky it will be beautiful! However, it's best plan for wind & rain just in case.
