Family Adventure Days
An exciting way to experience the great outdoors whilst in the Lake District. We start by Rock Scrambling, this gives us a taste for adventures on rock, building confidence along the way. We then try out some Rock Climbing at a venue with awesome views and challenges for all abilities. The day wouldn’t be complete without an Abseil, so that’s next! Finally, a gentle walk back, passing a mountain tarn en-route. A great day out for all ages & great for families.
Rock Climbing / Abseiling
Ascending vertical rock faces then abseiling back down. This is pure action packed, adrenaline fuelled fun, with no experience necessary. We choose crags with easy access so you get maximum time on the rock. All safety equipment is provided by us so you can concentrate on having loads of fun, experiencing the thrill of ‘space below your feet’ and get to grips with rock climbing.
Rock Scrambling
What a fantastic activity this is, a great way to move through the mountains. Scrambling is a mix between walking and easy rock climbing, where you can get to grips with the rock but not be encumbered with lots of bulky equipment so can move more fluidly. This is becoming a very popular sport because it offers so much fun. Our routes have been carefully chosen and offer fantastic fun, some airy situations add to the excitement and ensure your adrenaline gets pumping!
Gorge Scrambling
The Lake District is full of hidden streams & becks of amazing beauty. A gorge walk with us will take you deep into this breathtaking scenery. Starting at the bottom of a stream we use hands and feet to ascend ravines and waterfalls, stopping to jump into or swim in hidden pools. Our routes have been carefully chosen and offer fantastic fun, suitable for all ages and great for families.
Guided Mountain Walk
For a truly memorable day out, join us for a trip into the mountains of South Lakeland, favoured by Wainwright and justly so. A selection of routes are on offer, including walks in the magical Troutbeck & Langdale regions. Check the website for more information then call us to reserve a place. A guided walk allows you more time to enjoy the scenery, visit lesser known quiet corners of Lakeland, and gain local knowledge.
Trail/ Fell Running
Runs for all abilities and paces. The Lake District is the home of fell running and has become increasingly popular for trail running. If you are keen to run off-road and don’t want too much ascent we can take you on some beautiful trails along picturesque valleys, stunning lakeside paths or through majestic forests… OR… If you’re keen to get up into the mountains why not run with us to the tops of inspiring peaks, along lofty ridges, or off the beaten track on some of the lesser known fells. This is an activity for those with a reasonable level of running fitness. You can choose to come on one of our popular fell or trail runs or we can make a bespoke run to fit in with your requirements.

Family Adventure Days

Adventure Day outline
When visiting the Lake District with family & friends, why not try this exciting way to experience the great outdoors. It’s just the thing to get everyone involved.
By driving to the summit of a Lakeland Pass, we keep walking to a minimum. This usually makes the little ones happy. After getting kitted up in helmets & harnesses, we start with an introduction to Rock Scrambling, this gives us a taste for adventure on rock, building confidence along the way and allowing for fast & fun progress into the mountains.
We then try out Rock Climbing at a venue with awesome views over to Lake Windermere and challenges suitable for all abilities. So whether you’re a beginner or have climbed before, we’ll find the right challenge for you. The day wouldn’t be complete without an Abseil, so that’s next! Test your ‘head for heights’ with this final challenge. We then take a gentle walk back, passing a tranquil mountain tarn en-route. This is a great day out for all ages & great for families.

Hot Rock – El Chorro Sport Climbing

Based near to the whitewashed Andalusian village of Valle de Abdalajis we have a choice of the finest crags in the El Chorro area. The village is like a time capsule, far removed from the hustle & bustle of modern living, yet still caters well for our needs with a handful of shops & bars and a traditional charm. During the course we visit roadside and mountain climbing venues, all offering breathtaking scenery that fights for your attention. This course is aimed at a variety of people but would be most suitable for beginners wishing to take their first steps on rock or those wishing to make the transition from indoor to outdoor climbing. Rest assured you’ll be in good hands throughout your stay, all courses are run by a qualified and experienced English climbing instructor.
And whilst in this beautiful area, there’s lots more to see and do:
Mountain bike trails (bikes can be hired locally); Horse riding; Many walking routes suitable for all abilities, Sierra del Huma is a great day out providing superb views from the summit. Walks can be arranged for non-climbing days.
A visit to Torcal National Park to experience the Karst Limestone scenery is not to be missed. There are also a number of fine walks in this area.
A day at the beach can’t be ruled out. It’s only an hour’s drive to the coast and places like Puerta Banus, Marbella with its fine sandy beach.
The Lakes of Ardales are only a few minutes drive and offer swimming and at certain times of year it’s possible to hire Kayaks / Canoes.
For those who like shopping, Antequera is close by and has a wide selection of traditional stores. For those seeking a wider choice, Malaga is also easily reached and with its wide avenues alongside narrow side streets, provides a fine experience for the shopaholic or culturalist.

Undiscovered Lakeland – From £99

The Lake District contains some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. With hundreds of fells which create a vast terrain of rugged mountains. Since time began the landscape here has provided inspiration to poets such as William Wordsworth & Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Even the Roman Empire made home just below the picture shown here!

Day 1: Begins in the delightful and little visited Duddon valley, a truly unspoilt area of Lakeland. We find an entertaining route to the summit of Harter Fell before heading over the wild moorland of Ulpha Fell and onto Great Whinscale, Crook Crag, The Pike & Green Crag, where we find further entertainment and fabulous views. Our return takes us through the ever changing Dunnerdale forest and back to the babbling river Duddon.

Day 2: Starting at the famous landmark of The Old Dungeon Ghyll, we take the steep path up Rossett Gill to Angle Tarn, forge a way on to Esk Hause where we can enjoy some rest, shelter & views. We then descend towards the Great Moss, a real wilderness, before making an interesting scramble via a fine ridge to Ill Crag summit. We return easily to Esk Hause, and from here either walk straight back to the Langdale valley, or take in the summits of Esk Pike & Bowfell (recommended) before returning to the valley.

Sunset & Stars

So you’ve been up Helvellyn by day, traversed the Fairfield Horseshoe too, but have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk to these summits at night? Maybe you’d like to arrive for sunset, or sunrise? Or simply marvel at the amazing Lakeland scenery on a cool clear summer night.
We can arrange this for you for any of the Lakeland mountains, whether it be Loughrigg or Scafell Pike. Not only is this a thrilling experience, it can also offer the most spectacular of views imaginable. Go on, give it a try!
Great Gable from Scafell Pike – soon after daybreak

Mountain Journeys – Challenge Events

At mountain journeys we offer a unique range of events to test your abilities in the mountain environment. From single day to multi day ‘mega trips’ we have something for everyone. Lakeland 3000's – This challenge is the next step up in terms of fitness & stamina requirements. Four mountains are climbed over 3 days. These include the highest peak in England, Scafell Pike. Only £99pp

Welsh 3000's – This covers 15 mountains & 3 mountain ranges in 3 days. All from a comfortable base in the heart of the beautiful and dramatic Snowdonia countryside. If you’re feeling fit and are willing to devote time to training, this challenge will reward accordingly. Only £99pp

To move in these mountains is an experience never to be forgotten, their beauty and scale will stay with you always. Only £99pp

All events are priced with groups in mind and subject to minimum numbers / fees. Please ask if you require further information.

Challenge Event: Lakeland 3000ft Peaks

Lakeland 3000’s – From only £99 (based on 3 participants)
The Lake District contains some of the most beautiful scenery in England. It has hundreds of fells which create a vast terrain of rugged mountains. There are 4 fells which exceed the 3000ft contour. These can be combined and ascended during a long weekend, meaning you have then climbed the 4 highest peaks in England, quite an achievement.
The mountains in order of height are:
1. Scafell Pike, 3210ft / 977 metres
2. Scafell, 3164ft / 964 metres
3. Helvellyn, 3118ft / 950 metres
4. Skiddaw, 3054ft / 931 metres
The English Lakes offer some of the finest mountain scenery in the UK and this is a near perfect way to enjoy and get to know them and give yourself a challenge to work towards.

Call now to book a place on this fantastic event.

Challenge Event: Welsh 3000ft Peaks

Welsh 3000’s – From £99 (based on 4 participants)
The 14 Peaks Challenge is an attempt to climb all fourteen 3000ft peaks in Wales in three days. This is a beautiful high level traverse passing through untamed mountain areas. We aim to complete this challenge in three days. It's physically demanding, but a fine achievement. In the evening we can relax and reflect on the achievements of the day. The Welsh Peaks offer glorious mountain scenery and this is a magnificent way to enjoy them all.
The first day we traverse the Carneddau for a great high level walking day. The second day involves scrambling on Tryfan, followed by the mighty bulk of the Glyderau. Day 3 involves more scrambling and a ridge walk across the Crib Goch arête, before walking to the summit of Snowdon. The days aren't all just walking, so this gives a whole new level of excitement. Day’s 2 & 3 in particular require a head for heights as the exposure offered is quite dramatic. On first appearance, Tryfan can appear impenetrable. However our route allows for variation in difficulty levels and is actually within the capabilities of most hill walkers. Crib Goch requires a good head for heights, surefootedness and steady nerves. There is no hiding the fact that this is a narrow, knife edge ridge. We will allow plenty of time for this.

Challenge Event: Yorkshire 3 Peaks

Yorkshire 3 peaks – From £59(based on 2 participants)
To complete this route is to undertake one of the great outdoor challenges in the UK. It will be a tough day, but worth it for that feeling of satisfaction. The scenery is dramatic and ever changing, wildlife abounds as do carpets of flowers encouraged by the nutrient rich soils of the Limestone pavement, which in itself is an incredible sight not to be missed.
We start and finish in the sleepy village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, from here we can observe much of the route that awaits our discovery. Pen-y-ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough are the objectives for the day, the 3 highest places in Yorkshire all together.

Challenge Event: Cairngorm 4000ft Peaks

Cairngorm 4000’s – The BIG 5! – from £99 (based on 3 participants)
The Cairngorms are the largest and arguably the most beautiful mountain range in the UK, in winter it represents Scotland’s only Arctic environment, supporting plants and animals seen in few other places. To race passed the Cairngorms for a fleeting visit to nearby Aviemore will not reveal the beauty that lies within, it takes time and effort to appreciate these mountains. Those who find that time will also find themselves captivated, for this is a true wilderness, and so close to home.
Day 1 begins with a gentle warm up (relatively speaking) as we ascend the 2nd & 6th highest peaks in the UK. By starting high above sea level, these are very achievable goals and offer spectacular viewpoints into the heart of this range.
Day 2 and it’s time to flex our muscle. We really go for it today and ascend the 3rd, 4th, & 5th highest summits in the UK – supplementary oxygen optional!! The nature of these mountains allows us to maintain height after initial ascent, therefore making even this epic day a very real possibility for healthy & active people willing to train in hill fitness before the event.
Impressive Cairngorm scenery during winter
Note: due to the harsh weather often experienced in this part of the UK we only offer this event during the months of June - September.

Summary: This journey begins at a high mountain pass, the meeting of the 3 shires, thus helping to take away some of the effort. We quickly escape the crowds by using pathless terrain to gain height. This allows us to visit untouched Lakeland before summiting the popular & rocky peaks of Crinkle crags. We use a well trodden path to enable an easy return journey that is further helped by impressive views of the Coniston range.

Langdale Pikes - Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle & Pike o' Stickle
(Full day walk)

Moderate
Allow 5-7 hours
Terrain: Well made paths, grade 1 rock scramble (optional), undulating route over tops, some loose scree during descent.
Summary: Langdale is a busy valley, and justly so, for it is magnificent in every way. Our route takes in all that is great about Langdale and is sure to impress at every turn. We can find a quiet spot beside Stickle tarn while discussing the onward route, to scramble or not to scramble? For those so inclined, we can offer an introduction to the sport of rock scrambling by following an impressive line up the face of Pavey Ark. There are less demanding alternatives for those wishing to simply enjoy the walk. After summiting Pavey, we traverse easily to gain two more Langdale summits, easy or what? We finish with the obligatory visit to the ODG (Old Dungeon Ghyll) pub for refreshments under the mountains. You’ll just love it.

(Full day walk)

Moderate
Allow 6-8 hours
Terrain: Bridleways, well made high mountain paths, descent is steep in places, surfaced lane through the valley.
Summary: Looking from the hamlet of Troutbeck, this walk follows the skyline ridge as it wanders into the distance. The Garburn Pass is used to gain height before joining this wide, grassy ridge. This walk then becomes an undulating high level traverse taking in no less than 4 peaks. We can shelter by the beacon on Thornthwaite crag and enjoy lunch before descending to the Troutbeck valley via the Roman road of High Street. We pass two fine public houses during our return through Troutbeck, the garden of the Mortal Man will surely tempt us to defer our journey and enjoy views & ales before completing the walk.
The long & undulating ridge to Thornthwaite Beacon, as seen from Troutbeck village Next- Fairfield Horseshoe or Full day walks list

The Fairfield Horseshoe
(Full day walk)

Moderate
Allow 5-8 hours
Terrain: Good paths, indistinct at times.
Summary: A classic horseshoe starting and finishing in the bustling town of Ambleside. This is a high level route that calls for a degree of fitness, but nevertheless rewards those who persevere with spectacular views. A featureless summit plateau is a noteable part of this walk, a great reason to have a guide with you to ensure we all arrive at our destination. During our descent, we are constantly drawn downward by the captivating vistas of Lake Windermere.
Returning to Ambleside from Fairfield, with Lake Windermere in the near distance Next- Harter Fell or Full day walks list

Harter Fell - Duddon valley
(Full day walk)

Moderate
Allow 4-6 hours
Terrain: Forestry tracks, pathless grassy slopes.
Summary: This walk takes us to a quiet corner of Lakeland. Nestling in the Duddon valley and enjoying uninterrupted views of the Scafell mountains. This is a real favorite of ours. The route soon leaves the forestry tracks and makes progress on easy angled grassy slopes before finally arriving at the rocky summit, where shelter is usually easy to find. Look out for the weird rock formations on the return leg.
Summit views from Harter Fell Next- Scafell Pike or Full day walks list

Scafell Pike
(Full day walk)

Strenuous
Allow 5-8 hours
Terrain: Good paths, can feel steep at times, huge rocky summit.
Summary: The highest peak in England, a great place to survey the Lakeland scenery. Whichever route we chose to ascend, we will be rewarded by stunning landscapes, and upon arrival at the huge summit plateau, a sense of satisfaction will be gained by reaching the highest land in England. The summit can be busy during the summer months, but due to its size, still manages to feels isolated and somehow detached from daily life.
Scafell Range from Great Gable Next- Helvellyn or Full day walks list

Helvellyn
(Full day walk)
Strenuous
Allow 5-7 hours
Terrain: Great paths throughout, grade 1 scramble on Striding edge (optional).
Summary: From whichever way we approach, this mountain commands respect. One of only four Lakeland 3000ft peaks and long ascents from every direction, it makes you work to gain the summit. Don’t let that put you off though, we allow plenty of time, so you can enjoy each step of the way, as the scenery unfolds from lowland pasture to high mountain plateau. For those wanting the excitement of a rock scramble, we can cross Striding edge (a classic Lakeland scramble), for those wishing to simply enjoy the mountain without this added excitement, we can offer a number of alternative walking routes. Rest assured that a guide will be with you every step of the way.
Scramblers enjoying Striding Edge, Helvellyn Next- Langdale or Full day walks list

Langdale - Esk Pike & Bowfell
(Full day walk)

Strenuous
Allow 6-8 hours
Max number in party = 4
Terrain: Good bridleways & paths, pathless ascent of Esk Pike, boulder strewn in places, good paths on return.
Summary: This route offers an introduction to the sport of scrambling (with the option to miss bits out at any time). From Langdale valley we ascend easily to Angle tarn, beyond this the scrambling begins. Short, easy rock steps allow confidence to build and before long we’re on the summit of Esk Pike. From here it’s a mere stroll to Bowfell before beginning our descent via The Band. We finish with the obligatory visit to the ODG (Old Dungeon Ghyll) pub for refreshments under the mountains. What a perfect end to a great mountain day.

Short (half day) Walks

Want to go walking in the hills but a little short on time or just looking for an easier day out without the hassle of planning a route yourself? We have the answer right here: short walks in and around the South Lakes tailored to suit you. These will be approximately 3 – 4 hours in duration and do not ascend any high mountains. Here’s a few of the half-day walks available. And others are easily arranged if desired.

Pike of Blisco
(Half-day walk)

Easy
Allow 3-5 hours
Terrain: Good paths, rocky in places with some steep sections.
Summary: Starting from the historic 3 counties boundary of 3 shires stone. We meet a variety of landscape features along our chosen route, and given clear weather will be justly rewarded for the climb with stunning views to the Langdale Pikes from this most commanding of vantage points. (Half-day walk)

Easy
Allow 3-5 hours
Terrain: Surfaced lanes, bridleway, some sections may be boggy after rain.
Summary: Arguably the prettiest of Lakeland valleys, a route to be savoured. Troutbeck is positively pastoral in scenery, think of Beethovens 6th symphony and image the scene. Rolling hills, babbling streams, birdsong and sheep filled meadows complete this magical scene. Our route involves mainly walking on the level, in order that we may spend much time enjoying the views rather than slogging up steep mountains.
Troutbeck Valley with the Tongue shown centrally Next- Wansfell Pike or Short walks list

Wansfell Pike - complete ridge walk
(Half-day walk)

Easy
Allow 3-5 hours
Terrain: Good paths, indistinct at times
Summary: For those staying in Troutbeck or Ambleside, it would surely be a sin not to stand atop this gorgeous hill, for what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in beauty. But don’t take my word for it, experience Wansfell for yourself. We follow good footpaths, but occasionally add to the sense of adventure by straying ‘off path’ to escape the crowds, thus enjoying the tranquility of the mountain and affording ourselves the finest of views. Our low-level return route options are equally rewarding and indulge us regularly with views of splendour.
Impressive views of The Fairfield Horseshoe as seen from Wansfell Next- High Sweden Bridge or Short walks list

High Sweden Bridge
(Half-day walk)

From the bustling village of Ambleside we follow ancient bridleways leading into Scandale valley to meet this most picturesque packhorse bridge. This is a pleasant spot to rest awhile beside the babbling stream and soak up the atmosphere.
Sunshine in Scandale Next- Easedale Tarn or Short walks list

Easedale Tarn
(Half-day walk)

From the lovely village of Grasmere we head west alongside the lively waterfalls of Sourmilk Ghyll. We continue along the banks of the tarn until meeting the Coast to Coast trail leading us back to Grasmere.
An atmospheric day – Easedale Next- Loughrigg or Short walks list

Loughrigg
(Half-day walk)

From Ambleside we head through Rothay park, admiring the sculptures as we go. Crossing the river Rothay allows us access to Loughrigg Fell, a rambling fell, seemingly with numerous summits. Our route will be tailored to suit but may include a visit to Lily tarn or Loughrigg tarn before reaching the summit and unrivalled views of Grasmere & Rydal water. We return to Ambleside via Loughrigg terrace – cave exploration will be optional!
A winter’s day - Grasmere from Loughrigg terrace Next- Coffin Trail or Short walks list

Coffin Trail
(Half-day walk)

Beginning near to the hamlet of Rydal – where William Wordsworth spent much of his life – we follow Loughrigg terrace as it gently ascends to reveal the splendour of Rydal water. Upon arriving in Grasmere village why not take time for tea & cakes in one of the cafes before we take to the coffin trail on our route to Rydal. So named as it was used in times gone by to transport the deceased to burial grounds.
View towards Rydal Next- Boredale or Short walks list

Boredale
(Half-day walk)

For something just a little bit different, this route ventures into the tranquil reaches of Boredale. From Patterdale Post Office, we follow a well trodden path for the ascent to Boredale Hause, the meeting place of many paths. We descend the head of Boredale and enter its shadowy depths, Hallin Fell beckons us onwards. Our return route follows close to the lapping waters of Ullswater, stopping to enjoy the delights of Silver Bay on our way.
Stunning views of Ullswater Next- Goats Water or Short Walks list

Goats Water
(Half-day walk)

This route begins high above Coniston village and follows the Walna scar track. But instead of setting a course into the Duddon valley, we aim for Goats water, nestling below Coniston Old Man & the mighty Dow Crag. We may be treated to a rock climbing display by climbers on the massive cliffs of Dow – bring your binoculars – we enjoy time by the lake before circumnavigating it and gently descending back to Walna scar.
Goat’s water Next- Little Langdale or Short Walks list

Little Langdale & Slate Quarries
(Half-day walk)

From Skelwith we follow the Brathay to Elterwater and on through Sawrey’s wood to Little Langdale, using the Slater’s bridge as we go in search of old slate quarries, our route might involve tunnelling, if you like. Cathedral & Hodge Close are both impressive pieces of history in the form of old slate workings. Loads of fun for kids too. Once finished exploring, we make our way back to Skelwith.
A stunning autumnal day in Langdale End of Short walks. Back to Short Walks list.

A few words from some of our customers

Mark we all enjoyed our time out with you on Tuesday, a great introduction to abseiling, patients of a saint, polite, excellent attitude and when we return to Lake District for other activities yours will be the first company we approach. We now have a contact in Lakes for activities we know we can trust.
Thanks
Michael, Gina, Tasha, Shannon & Mike.

Everything was fantastic! We all had a great time, thinking about booking again in the near future so will probably be in touch soon.
Thanks a lot,
Callum

All in all a very enjoyable afternoon and great value for money.  We will undoubtedly be in contact again should we find ourselves in the Lake District and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to any friends that are looking for similar experiences.
Thanks again
Jackie and Ryan

Hi Mark,
Firstly, we really enjoyed the day - it was great to meet you and we had a brilliant time - Thomas and Olivia have told everyone about it!
The service we received both before and during the day was exceptional, particularly the fact it was so personalised to us.
1) Information received was accurate and timely, we felt really comfortable with what to expect
2) The content was excellent, particularly as it was so specific to our family requirement, and it covered the range of our abilities superbly
3) You were very patient and tailored your approach to us individually
4) Absolutely spot on and took account of our different abilities
Finally, we would have no hesitation in recommending you to family groups and individuals and hope to meet again for another go.
Many thanks again.
Regards,
Simon, Karen, Thomas and Olivia

Rock Climbing course
1) The information you received prior to departure;
Excellent communication and clear instructions.
2) The content of the course;
Brilliant and comprehensive, with an exercise on learning new techniques.
3) Quality of instruction;
Second to none...I felt completely safe and suitably challenged, with plenty of encouragement when required.
4) Quality of venues & routes;
Great venues with beautiful scenery. The routes were just right and, as mentioned above, were suitably challenging without feeling impossible.
I'll be back...you can count on it :-)
Kathy

Family Adventure Day
1 The content of the day was just what our family wanted. Challenging enough to be thrilling, but without being too scary for our 10-year-old daughter.
2 The quality of instruction was great.
3 The venues were both great. It was fun to be able to explore the quarry tunnels.
4 Overall, we had a great day and we really enjoyed your company. You had some interesting knowledge of the area, but we appreciated the fact that you are pretty laid-back. You hit a good balance between being friendly and interesting without being over the top.
Best regards
Gareth

Guided Walks
Yes we had a great weekend thank you and weather couldn't have been better.
We had sufficient information prior to our visit and were very pleased with the first route up Wansfell, which gave us a tester to how fit we felt to try Hellvelyn on Sunday.
Having Kate as our guide enhanced our experience, to have that local knowledge was great.
We hope to have the opportunity to do this again and would certainly be happy to get in touch again if we do.
We would also highly recommend you to others who may wish to use a guided service.
We had a blast and Kate was very gentle with an old guy who suffers from vertigo but wants to go to the tops of hills !
I have to confess to some aching muscles when we got back to Jersey but am sure that will do me good in the long run and have some great memories and photos. You helped us to have the weekend that I was hoping for.
Many Thanks
Helen & William

Abseiling
Hi Mark and Kate
We were going to email you anyway to thank you for the fab day out mark, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
1) the information prior was spot on, everything we needed. Maybe asking us to bring a lunch box would be good as I was starving he he!
2) instruction was great, laid back, patient when I was nervous and covered all areas.
3) amazing venue, we both loved the caves and the views were spectacular.
4) it was lovely meeting you and complete value for money.
We would definitely love to do more with you next time we visit the lakes.
Take care
Tracy & James

Scrambling
Hi Mark
Firstly, thank you for a most enjoyable day in Langdale valley. I already have ‘Hostile Habitats’ on my Amazon wish list! Please find our joint feedback below:
We found pre organisation information to be professional, friendly and prompt. We thought meeting up the evening before to be considerate beyond the call of duty and most useful for us due to differing experience levels and goals…and a great excuse for a pint! On the day, we found Mark’s considered choice of route to be appropriate for the weather conditions and various group members…Fiona was happy as she could walk while the boys scrambled!
Mark’s natural history and local knowledge was great; providing some interesting facts and stories and just as importantly, we all found Mark to be very good company. We all agree that we’d look forward to future mountain journeys, whether it be rock climbing on Napes needle or learning winter skills on the Cairngorms. Overall – highly recommended!
We hope to be in touch soon, probably Jon and Malcolm firstly about some climbing and scrambling!
Thanks again and wishing you and Kate a busy but happy August!
Kind regards
Fiona p.s. Jon & Malcolm are looking forward to being tested on some ‘naughty kid’ scrambling & climbing adventures with you!

Rock Climbing & Gorge Scrambling
The information we received prior to arrival was very comprehensive.
The content of the day was about right; I think the size of the group meant that there was a good balance of doing stuff, and having a rest while the others had a go.
The quality of instruction was excellent: I thought you were very calm and patient with the children (something I find difficult!); you were encouraging when any of us found bits difficult, without making us feel that we had to go on if we didn't want to.
The venues and routes were well chosen: challenging but not overly so.
I think the ghyll scrambling was the highlight for all three of us; partly helped by the weather.
We will definitely be in touch next time we make it to Ambleside.
Many thanks,
Sophie

Hi Mark
It was a great day.. perfectly hit the spot.
1. I received all the information I needed to make a decision plus a lot more that I thought was excellent customer service throughout.
2. Everyone really enjoyed the day, was fun, challenging, in the middle of beautiful scenery and at a great price
3. Instructors were excellent. Easily gauged the condition and ability of the group and led us accordingly. Provided local knowledge to give us a great experience.
4. We hit 3 amazing locations throughout the day and felt like we saw some great places.
5. Don’t have any further comments, I hope I said it all above – a great time had by all!
I’ve tweeted about your company and will recommend to anyone who would be interested.

Gorge Scrambling & Climbing
Dear Mark and Kate,
The experience you offer is absolutely fantastic. It is amazing to find such a professional, friendly and personalized service. The information given out before hand is very clear and thorough and whilst attempting the activities I feel we are in safe hands due to the experience and passion that you demonstrate. The instruction given is very clear and provided in a very friendly, encouraging way.
We most certainly discover some fabulous bits of the lake district that we would not otherwise discover. The activities are very reasonably priced given the fabulous lasting memories they provide.
I know my three darlings would love to do more activities with you and I sincerely hope we will be able to on our next visit to the UK.
Keep up the good work and I hope you have a very successful year.
Kind regards,
Gill, Dom, Ollie and Anna

Climbing
Hi Mark,
It was lovely to meet you too and hope we weren’t too much of a handful.
The information we received prior to departure was excellent, you helped us with any queries we had and we thank you for that.
The instruction was great, you really encouraged us to try and continue and not give up when the going got tough. You worked well with the team and adapted to us and each of our styles.
The venue was perfect with a variety of climbs.
Overall experience was brilliant, really fun and great views.
Thanks
The Team

Abseiling
Hi there Mark! - so very, very sorry for the lateness of this wee reply - Alan and I would like to thank you for the absolutely wonderful start to our recent holiday in the Lakes.
It was really brilliant to arrive for our morning of abseiling with yourself feeling so positive, prepared and secure in the advice which you had given us prior to meeting you.
It was with great enthusiasm and trepidation that we donned our waterproofs and braved the elements to meet you at Booths!!
After our wee daunder through Keswick it was great to arrive at Castlehead - super venue for our first lesson of abseiling - hopefully the first of many more with yourself.
The instruction we received, so clear and precise, gave us the great confidence we needed.
We shall definitely be in touch with you the next time we head down to the Lakes - part 2!!!!!!!!!!
We have absolutely NO hesitation in recommending you to any of our friends who may come to the Lakes looking for an adventure.
Many thanks & kind regards,
Alan and Emma

Classic Rock
Thanks again Mark, the blog entry's great - I'll add a comment, and do a review on UKC. Feel free also to quote this email!
Top day out - excellent route suggestion for a mountain day with some quality climbing and a Classic Rock tick. Superb company - relaxed, knowledgeable and kept the pace absolutely right for someone like me whose hill legs take a few days to get in shape! I learned a few helpful techniques about setting up belays into the bargain.
I will certainly be in touch next time we're up, and Mags loved the family day out idea!
How did the Dream of White Horses team get on??
All the best
Patrick

Guided Walks
Dear Mark,
Thank you so much for organizing such a wonderful set of walking tours for us – we LOVED every minute of it! Here is my feedback:
1. The information we received prior to our trip was useful and informative. The website was robust and the written correspondence was responsive and helpful;
2. The content of the tours was wonderful – the walks were varied and interesting in terms of both terrain and history;
3. The instruction was extremely competent and knowledgeable. The guide was attentive and flexible, especially given our varied levels of endurance and experience;
4. The route selection was excellent: the selection was responsive and flexible to our needs while being sufficiently challenging and beautiful;
5. Over all, this was an outstanding and inspirational experience!
Mark, thank you for being such an outstanding guide! We wish you all the best with your mountain journeys, wherever they take you and wherever you choose to go! We are looking forward to booking future tours with you!
Very best regards,
Dayna

Hi Mark,
Thanks for a brilliant 2 days at the weekend and all the info and pics you have sent through.
1) Information received prior to departure:
Great - you answered all our questions professionally and efficiently.
2) Content of the course & quality of instruction:
The content of the course was just right - especially as we were both novices at navigating. We have learnt some really useful skills that have given us more confidence out in the hills. Quality of instruction was fantastic - concepts were explained in laymans terms and as everything was "hands-on" from the start we had plenty of practice at everything covered.
3) Quality of venues & routes:
Meeting place was within easy reach of where we were staying and routes were great - can't believe you picked the area around Silver How to start - when we'd only been there 2 months previous and commented to ourselves how difficult it was to assimilate the "knobbly" terrain with the map. Day 2 Langdale Pikes - just perfect - not only did we get to practice our new navigation skills but had great views and bagged some Wainwrights to boot! Got the impression you picked up on our preferred type of terrain and routes on day 1 and used this to plan day 2 which made the course really feel bespoke.
Overall a great introduction to Navigation equipping us with skills we really will use. The course has shown us that the use of a compass is not the dark art that we thought it was. Your relaxed approach put us at ease and we felt comfortable asking questions. Lee really enjoyed the unexpected scrambles thrown in too. Would definitely recommend you to others.
Thanks again and we'll be in touch to let you know how we get on with our new skills.
Lindsey and Lee

Hi Mark,
We both had a wonderful time out on the mountain with you. The instruction was excellent and we both felt that you went out of your way to make sure we had an unforgettable day. Also, the spot you picked for us to abseil down was incredible. Really loved seeing the old slate quarry and walking through all of the tunnels.
Thanks again for a brilliant experience! Good luck with everything, and we hope to see you again very soon for another Lake District adventure!
Leanne and Dan

Hi Mark and Kate,
We really enjoyed ourselves and were particularly impressed with the fact you were able to set something up for us at such short notice. Your location was both suitable, convenient and with breathtaking views.  Mark you have a very personal and friendly approach and carry out your instruction with the utmost professionalism at all times and we all felt confident we were in safe hands.
As you know I am not good at heights but would certainly like to give the walk a go up Scafell Pike in the Spring time.
As promised I have left your leaflets in the welcome pack in our cottage (Birchmill Cottage, Crook - find us on Lakelovers and Holiday Lettings) for our guests who may give you a little extra business.
In the meantime thanks again and good luck for the season.
Regards
Richard & Gill

Hello Mark,
Hope you're well.
1.  The information prior to departure:  It was sufficient.  We had a look at your website before booking.  And a search online for what to pack.
2.  Walks:  Excellent.  Was great to do a route that was challenging and fun.  We would never have followed that "path" without you!
It was our first guided walk and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Thanks again
Rube

Dear Mark
Debra and I would like to thank you for a very enjoyable and informative couple of walks. We had great hopes for the weekend and you managed to fulfil these expectations with ease.
1 Your talk on the eve of our first walk was informative, humorous and an enjoyable way to meet you.
2 Your guiding of the walks was first rate.
3 We thought that even though you did not know us your choice of venue and route was perfect, just testing enough to encourage us to try to be more adventurous.
5 We thought the service you provided was excellent.
We will be in touch in a few months to arrange another walk, That is if we’ve not broken anything while we’re skiing in January.
 Kindest regards
 Paul and Lady Debra.

Hi Mark,
We had a fantastic time - and the rock scrambling/climbing was amazing! Paddy was such a great instructor and i couldn’t believe we had it all to ourselves. Thank you so much for arranging that for us, we will definitely be back!
Please find our views below:
1) The information you received prior to departure;
Very good - really appreciated you taking the time to accommodate us even though you were going to be away yourselves. And it was great to be able to discuss exactly which route we were going to take rather than just being placed on a group route with no possible options.
2) Quality of instruction;
Excellent - Paddy was fantastic. He was so calm and patient and made us feel so comfortable throughout.
3) Quality of venues & routes;
Awesome - the route was great and perfect for our level of experience. Parts of it were challenging and others were just great fun. And the location was great too because we got a lovely pub lunch after :)
4) And anything else you'd like to comment on
Generally a great experience and we will definitely be in touch the next time we come up to the Lakes.
Thanks again,
Marie

Hi Mark,
Really sorry for the delay in replying to your email.
Q1 - helpful pre activity information received. Very patient with my many emails beforehand! Good advice re what to wear, etc.
Q2 - was fantastic that the girls were able to do the activity in Keswick & that you came to the house to meet us! Was an added bonus that the location used was within walking distance of our holiday cottage.
Q3 - the girls appreciated the fact you were chatty with them! Very good instructions for first-time abseillers!
Q4 - was lovely to meet you, would definitely recommend you / use you again for other activities if we return to the lakes.
Many Thanks,
Alison Surrell

Hi Mark and Kate
We all thoroughly enjoyed our day on Saturday and enjoyed meeting Kate and yourself.
The route was just perfect and we will be eternally grateful to you for choosing the Troutbeck side for our ascent!  Ellen, in particular, is so pleased that she managed the walk; I think the poles really helped and, by the end of the weekend, her leg felt the best it had done all week.  Kate was very long suffering but at no point attempted to push us from a great height.  Finally, a huge thank you for arranging such perfect weather for us: we will expect the same every time we return to the Lake District .
I have returned home, armed with one of your leaflets, and hope to return for a weekend with the family to have some adventure.
Many thanks again
Elaine

Hi Mark,
We were both given thorough information on the activity before the event and felt that everything was covered and explained well including directions and kit required.
Instruction was superb, we both felt safe and it sounded like you not only knew what you were doing but obviously enjoyed it immensely as well!
Stunning scenery, we had not been to that part of the lake district before so it was great seeing it all especially as we got higher up.
Thank you ever so much for being so flexible with timings and so accommodating. The experience really was the highlight of our holiday and will definitely be in touch again next time we are there for other courses that you offer (as well as Three Peaks assistance that we spoke about). Many thanks again for all your hard work we both really appreciate it.
We will be in touch soon.
David

Hi Mark,
I really enjoyed today despite the weather and will be contacting you next time I come up.
I found your style of teaching, chatting & explaining useful and spot on! This was exactly what I was after from today's session and feel I can take what I have learned today and work on my knowledge till the next time!
Very happy, Spot on, Top marks, Exactly what I was after today.
Tired and happy from my climb today. Looking forward to my next time with new routes.
Thank you for your time today I really enjoyed meeting you and your professional tuition...
Cheers
Justin

Hi Mark,
I'll keep it short and sweet just like me!!! ha!
The quality of instruction, health and safety, route of walk and your personal service was second to none. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you, I have already recommended you to family and friends and I myself will use you again.
Thankyou for making our experience with you so enjoyable.
Julie

Hi Mark, how you doing? We, and I, were very happy with the whole package. You knew what you were doing and you took us on a very interesting route. It was a fantastic day as far as we were concerned and I wouldn't hesitate to book you again in the future.
Regards,
Mark.

Hi Mark,
Thanks again for a great day out in the Lake District.
Although we booked at the last minute we felt like we knew all that we needed to about the trip and what would be involved. Mark provided us with clear details prior to our departure, including the different routes we could take, the time and energy that would be involved, the kind of equipment/clothing we'd need, etc.
Brilliant - set a great pace that meant we could enjoy the walk up and actually make it to the top and back down again without any dramas! We weren't all experienced hikers so the pace was perfect and gave us a lot of confidence.
Not sure if the venue part applies but the quality of the route was good. We wouldn't have wanted to do this without a guide, particularly at the top!
A fantastic day had by all! We really appreciated Mark guiding us at such short notice and for making it such a great day! We managed to achieve something that not all of us were sure we could. We'd definitely recommend Mountain Journeys to others heading to the Lake District.
Thanks Mark!
Stacey & Donna, Australia

Dear Mark, Kate and Anna
Firstly a very big thank you. We had a wonderful & very active holiday and a core part of that were the activities with you.
Thank you for taking us to some incredibly beautiful parts of the Lake District. Thank you for the additional information about e.g. the Roman Fort or the great pub lunches - that added even more to our day.
And finally you are excellent value for money, very caring and very professional So finally, thank you very very much.
Kind Regards,
Fionnuala, Kees and Benjamin

Mark,
Thanks for yesterday we all really enjoyed it.
It was certainly helpful to talk at length on the phone before the activities to understand what was involved and help us get the clothing right. I also felt reassured that it meant that you had a good understanding of our abilities and interests.
The instruction/guiding was excellent especially the way you engaged with the children and gave us lots of information as we went along including the geology and history of the region.
Juliet

Thanks again for the scrambling course. It was a fantastic experience and although I was apprehensive beforehand it has really improved my confidence in my own abilities and also dealing with heights.
Here's some feedback for you:
The info that was sent by email was just right. I also felt confident that any questions I had could be answered either on the end of a phone or face to face. You were very approachable and made me feel confident that I was paying for a high quality course.
As a one to one course I obviously benefitted fully from the course. I felt that it was well structured with room for flexibility in case of changes in weather or ability. You came across as very approachable and professional. Even when I was apprehensive about Jack's Rake, I found your honesty and realistic approach encouraging.
As far as the actual course was concerned, I think it was spot on and would happily recommend Mountain Journeys.
Leigh

Hi Mark.
Good trip home thanks and with a smile on my face as had a fantastic time yesterday. Scrambling day in Langdale
Roger (Manchester)

1) Pre walk information
Very good - not too little not too much. Nice to get an idea of what to expect.
2) Quality of guiding during walk
Excellent. Kat did a fantastic job. We all enjoyed her company and she looked after us really well.
Paul (Guildford)

Hi Mark,
Thanks again for a great trip out. Sorry for the delay in responding.
Instruction was clear and thorough. It was easy to place our trust in Mark and we also felt very comfortable asking questions.
Venue was beautiful and routes allowed for successful climbs with the right amount of challenge. Enjoyed having a combination of routes belayed from above and below.
Definitely wise to have a venue with a space for storing items during rainy weather.
Really enjoyed it! Will check out your website and keep you in mind for future trips out. Will also recommend you to friends :)
Kind regards,
Nancy and Vasilis (London)

Hi Mark,
Graham and I had a really good time on Thursday. Thank you for making our day so special.
The information we received about our trip beforehand was excellent and ensured that we were well prepared for the day ahead both in terms of equipment and planned activity/route.
The chosen venue - The Pike O’ Blisco was really good fun. Not somewhere I would have chosen by myself, however, we will definitely be going back after you have introduced us to this fantastic place and look forward to playing on the rocks again and trying out a few of the other routes you pointed out.
Thanks to your support and encouragement, I will most certainly be trying to get some more scrambling done in the near future.
Jacqui & Graham (Stockport)

Just a quick note Mark to say thank you once more for the climbing session on Friday morning. You had a great manner with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend your services to friends and family. I would enjoy doing this myself and think it highly likely that we will be renewing our acquaintance on future visits.
SE ( Midlands ) - Rock climbing session, Langdale

I was amazed at how well you organised it all. This, as well as doing loads of climbs to improve my skill, were my aims and were definitely met. I thought the course was superb value for money. I achieved exactly what I wanted to. I wish I could think of something for you to improve on in the future, but I really can't. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone in the future who is looking to learn sport climbing. Thanks again for an amazing time in El Chorro. I really did love it.
AJ ( Cumbria ) - Sport climbing in El Chorro

Just a quick note of thanks for you guiding over the weekend! Without your assistance, I don’t think we would have made it up Scafell Pike safely, as the other group had found out!
CB (London)

Many thanks for taking us climbing last Friday – both of us thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was great to be back on a rock face after so long. We will certainly be in touch if and when we return to the Lake District. Given how much we enjoyed the trip, I hope it will be soon. Good luck with your guiding/instructing. We will certainly spread the word to any friends that head up your way. It was lovely to meet you and many thanks again for a great day. Best wishes,
MM (London)

Just emailing to say thank you, we had a really good day (except maybe getting the minibus trapped on a hill in the snow) Mark was really good with the group, and they all enjoyed it and learnt something. It has also given me a good point to continue teaching them further navigation as they now all have the basics. Many thanks .
BD (Keele)

My El Chorro trip was fantastic, climbed a 6a+ on my second day, so I am very chuffed. My instructor was Mark Eddy, nice guy very safety conscious, and we spent ages everyday on the crag, I highly recommend him. ps his rates were by far the most reasonable I had found.
