The mighty Esk Gorge and beyond

It's been a while since we've had an Eskdale adventure and today the opportunity came along.

Temparatures have not been favourable here in the Lakes, with the Mercury not making much effort to attain double figures!!!

However we are not deterred.

With wetsuits on and plenty of spare clothes for later, in we went, nippy on the feet at first but this soon subsided and the coolness of the water became pleasant and refreshing.

Exploring jump locations and and enjoying some excellent scrambling above the fast flowing cascades, time simply ran away with us. I big motivation today was to find a suitable Tyrollean traverse site, but alas this didn't present itself!

Sam obliged as gorge model and did all the swims whilst I snapped away with the camera (any excuse not to get wet some would say)!!
Thanks Sam.

With a little time to spare we ventured into Lingcove Beck which is adjacent to the Esk Gorge. Having looked briefly at this gorge a few times but not really giving it any interest I wasn't sure what we might find. Well, it's every bit as entertaining and beautiful as its neighbour and well worth a trip either as a canyon descent or a scrambling ascent which is what we did.

We're hoping to be in these fine places plenty over the summer months. Maybe it's an activity you've always wanted to try, give us a call and let's make it happen.
